BEACH lifeguards in Weymouth are readying themselves for the busy summer season by taking delivery of a vital piece of equipment today – a wet weather poncho.
Sun worshippers may be looking forward to the start of the holiday peak season but cautious lifeguards have received their wet weather protection just in time for the Great British summer.
The Royal National Lifeboat Institute teamed up with their corporate partner clothing manufacturer Helly Hansen to develop the specifically-designed, red wind and waterproof clothing for use by beach rescue teams on Weymouth beach.

Local day-camp directors interviewed this week stressed that at their camps, safety is the top priority. Most are accredited by the American Camp Association, whose safety standards, according to all camp directors interviewed, exceed state requirements. The state accepts ACA certification in lieu of state inspection.
“The state is confident enough in us that if a camp is ACA accredited it doesn’t need a full state inspection,” said Adam Weinstein, executive director of the ACA, New York and New Jersey.
